The Position

Internal fit-out commenced in October 2022 and will be ready for occupancy in February 2023. The buildings will be linked by an atrium containing a common area and café, and each building features lifts and communal amenity areas on both floors.
UTAS has already taken space as a collaborative rural health training initiative with Corumbene. Other tenants include community pathology collection, a wellness centre and Corumbene services. Future tenants will likely include dental care and visiting allied health practitioners, and the potential for a pharmacy.
The Organisation
Corumbene was founded in 1966 by a small group of industrious, community-minded volunteers who saw a need for improved care of the Derwent Valley’s senior residents. From there, Corumbene has grown from strength to strength, as an independent not-for-profit displaying unwavering commitment to our purpose: “to strengthen our community’s health and wellbeing by delivering innovative, quality health and community services.” With dedication to our values of Teamwork, Respect, Encouragement, Honesty and Stewardship, Corumbene now has a broader community focus including a Rural Primary Health Program, community and in home services, retirement living and social housing. Health Hub on The Avenue is the next chapter, with Stage 1 of The Avenue development due to complete in mid-2023. Stage 2 is expected to proceed (subject to Council approval), involving the building of further retirement homes that will supplement Corumbene’s existing 93-bed stand-alone residential aged care facility, 8 independent living units, 18 social housing dwellings and home support servicing around 450 community clients.

From fine dining to fly fishing, and an emerging wine, spirit and cider region, New Norfolk and the Derwent Valley is steeped in history. Originally settled for it’s access to reliable fresh water, the region boasts a rich agricultural history, and horticulture of the past is undergoing a re-birth with summer fruits and farm gate sales being a feature during the warmer months. The Valley celebrates the changing of the seasons with an annual Autumn festival, rich colours reflect upon the Derwent. Winter is marked by snow on the peaks of Sleeping Beauty, tobogganing or exploring the tarns and fagus at Mt Field National Park.
Corumbene Care is currently repurposing two co-joined two storey buildings into a 2000 square metre Health Hub, within the historic Willow Court precinct. The $10M development adjoins a major supermarket, offers ample parking and is within walking distance of the CBD.
