Rural Generalist Advanced Skills Support Program

Rural Generalist Advanced Skills Support Program

Are you a Rural Generalist or Rural GP in Tasmania looking to advance your skills? Let's talk more!

The Rural Generalist Advanced Skills Support program (RGASS) is an initiative of the Tasmanian Rural Generalist Pathway to support rural GPs and RGs to provide advance skills in their rural communities.

If you are undertaking advanced or extended skills training that is not eligible for the procedural grant we can support you with up to $3,000 to complete this.

If you are a rural GP or a GP registrar, you are also eligible to apply.

The funds can be used for advanced or extended skills training that is not covered by the procedural grant, when:

  • the nature of the training is not covered by the procedural grant
  • the procedural grant funds have already been used for the year
  • Rural GPs that want to obtain an additional advanced skill not covered by any other support program
  • Rural Generalists who already have an advanced skill that need to maintain thier CPD which is not covered by the procedural grant

Program funding is subject to the RGASS 2024 eligibility guidelines. Program applications open 4 July 2024 and close 31 May 2026, or when the funding has been completely allocated.

What is the basic eligibility?

This program is available for:

  • Rural Generalists (fellowed or in training), or
  • Rural GPs (or GP registrars) wishing to gain an advanced or extended skill, and

all applicants must be working in areas MMM 3 to 7 within Tasmania (most areas except for greater Launceston and Hobart).
