An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Mental Health Worker to join the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) Tasmania community-based mobile mental health team in the scenic South of Tasmania.

The Position

The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) is seeking to recruit a part-time (0.8) mental health worker to join their mobile team. Specialising in the provision of youth mental health services, the successful candidates will work collaboratively to provide early identification and therapeutic intervention for young people aged between 8-16 years.

Supporting Southern Regions located in the Tasman, Huon Valley respectively, along with assisting in the Central Highlands and Southern Midlands if required, will deliver community-based services providing treatment, support and education for individuals and communities. The provision of mobile services will be delivered in an outreach capacity to be based from Hobart or Huonville.

The role will provide low to moderate intensity mental health services to young people aged 8-16 years. The successful candidate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering evidence based psychological interventions in a young person’s own community and remuneration will be based on qualifications and experience (Health Professionals & Support Services Award)

It will be essential to hold a qualification and registration/ membership as a psychologist, social worker, mental health nursing or counselling.

The Organisation

Working with the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) Tasmania you will be joining a team of dedicated professionals providing health care to people living and working in rural and remote Australia. The RFDS provide free primary health care services and deliver them directly to community members to meet their needs.

Reporting to the Manager, Primary Health Care and working with the Team Leader Mental Health this position is part of a greater team in Tasmania, including exercise physiologists, physiotherapists physical health workers and other mental health workers. You will have the support of this team, with regular staff meetings, access to clinical support/ advice and team professional development opportunities. There is an amazing culture throughout this team of likeminded individuals.

As well as this you will be part of a greater state-wide team of health professionals and a charitable national organisation with an impeccable reputation, synonymous with rural healthcare.
