Psychologist - Deloraine Medical Centre (Deloraine)

Deloraine Medical Centre

Location: Northern Tasmania       Occupation: Psychology       Position Type: Casual / Contract / Locum

A fantastic business opportunity has become available for a registered psychologist to take on a full and existing case load within a purpose built allied health facility in Deloraine, Northern Tasmania. You will be working as an independent contractor with the support of other health professionals within the joint building. This role is available for an immediate start. A $5000 relocation grant is available through HR+ to eligible applicants as well as eligibility to apply for a Health Workforce Scholarship Program, up to the value of $10,000.

The Position

Deloraine Medical Centre has expanded in recent years and offers a range of allied health services in a modern purpose built facility to the rear of the GP clinic.

There is a large need identified for an ongoing registered psychologist for up to 5 days per week. An existing patient base is available due to the extra demand for services and significantly reduced work of the current psychologist. Therefore the opportunity for immediate case load commencement exists. The current psychologist is providing services for 2 full days per fortnight, and the demand for services far outweighs their current capacity.

Working as an independent contractor with the support of other health professionals within the same building and bookings for the service can be arranged by the shared reception team at the medical centre and includes regular GP referrals.

The Organisation

Deloraine Medical Centre is a busy general practice with a friendly work environment within a multicultural team. The practice has 9 GP’s and the entire range of Allied Health services available onsite. The practice caters for a resident population of 2500 and has an outer catchment area of 10,000 residents.

About Deloraine

Deloraine’s streets are lined with Georgian and Victorian buildings and make for a charming morning or afternoon stroll. The town's excellent bakeries and cafes are also popular local hotspots. Deloraine is well known for its arts and crafts. The Tasmanian Craft Fair is held annually here when an amazing array of talented artists and craftspeople exhibit and demonstrate their work. Outside of festival time, arts and crafts still dominate with the town's many local galleries, craft shops and antique stores. Recreation pursuits can include football, basketball, golf, tennis, badminton, squash and cricket. There is the option to join service clubs such as Lions, Rotary and Apex.

The town is good base from which to explore the Great Western Tiers, Central Highlands with famous Cradle Mountain, Mole Creek with its limestone caves and Trowunna Wildlife Sanctuary, Liffey Falls and has excellent access to fishing in lakes.

What's on offer?

The practice offers beautiful and well equipped office space for the successful psychologist and their clients, including both computer and phone facilities. The practice will also do all of the bookings for existing and new patients to the practice and the GPs referrals offer a steady stream of clients. The successful psychologist will be responsible for your own billings and another allied health provider on site has been happy to share the use of their HICAPS machine.

This is an opportunity to have your own practice within an already established team in a beautiful country town.

As well as all of the above a $5000 relocation grant is available through HR+ to eligible applicants as well as eligibility to apply for a Health Workforce Scholarship Program, up to the value of $10,000.
