Have you ever wanted to work for an organisation dedicated to youth mental health? Cornerstone Youth Services in Launceston is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic and passionate mental health clinician to work in their Short Term Psychological Intervention (STPI) program.

The Position

Cornerstone Youth Services (CYS) is seeking a mental health clinician with a tertiary qualification in either psychology, social work, occupational therapy or mental health nursing to join their team on a part time (0.7) basis.

So what is the program? It is called Short Term Psychological Intervention Program and has been funded to provide short term therapeutic mental health support to young people (12-25 year olds) who have difficulty accessing mainstream services due to distance, transport and/or financial barriers.

What will you do? You will provide individual therapeutic support alongside the young person in collaboration with their GP.

Sessional work is provided for an initial 6 sessions, with a possible further 6 in consultation with the young person’s GP. You will get the opportunity to work with the young person on an individual basis or via telehealth as required.

The Organisation

Cornerstone Youth Services Inc. (CYS) delivers a broad range of services to our community of young people aged 12 to 25 in North and North-West Tasmania. They focus on health promotion, prevention, education, early intervention and developing help-seeking behaviours. Their services to young people include access to ‘no charge’ GP's, Youth Health Nurses, Drug & Alcohol, Social Workers and Allied Health professionals. They also provide individual and group support and activities; school programs; advocacy to access many other services to improve general or specific health and well-being.

The CYS Launceston office is located in the CBD, with easy access to transport, car parks and endless food options. It is also just a stone’s throw away from the iconic Cataract Gorge.

Launnie, as it is called by the locals, is Tasmania’s second largest city and has access to all the things you want in the city, just without all the hustle and bustle. Housing is affordable, peak hour is virtually non-existent and as an added bonus you have a great base to explore the rest of Tasmania’s iconic tourist destinations such as Cradle Mountain and Wineglass Bay.
