Are you an experienced registered nurse seeking a one of a kind opportunity to work in a rural general practice? Oatlands Surgery have a newly created role to join their diverse and dedicated team.

The Position

Oatlands surgery is seeking an experienced registered nurse to manage the majority of their practice nursing needs. This role will ideally suit a self-motivated RN that has had previous general practice nursing experience. The successful applicant will be responsible for managing patient recalls, care plans and diabetes management.

This is an extremely busy rural practice and so the ability to manage multiple patients, tasks and ever changing priorities is a must. If you are driven by opportunity to improve health outcomes then this is the role for you.

Oatlands surgery is offering a permanent part time position for 24 hours per week. The practice is extremely flexible and would be happy to negotiate an arrangement would best suit the successful applicant.

Essential requirements:

  • AHPRA registration
  • General practice nursing experience’
  • Experience with Medical Director and Pracsoft will be highly regarded

The Organisation

Oatlands Surgery is situated in the pretty and historic rural town of Oatlands in the heart of Tasmania, just over an hour north of Hobart and slightly further to Launceston. The township of Oatlands has a population of just under 900, however additional patients come from the broader rural area.

The practice is privately owned, and operates within the Midlands Multi-Purpose health Centre. The Multipurpose Health Centre also coordinates the delivery of a range of community services, visiting services and community groups such as Community Nursing, Child Health, Disability Services and Diabetic Education Services. Allied health services comprise physiotherapy and social work on an outreach basis, podiatry, and mental health services. A range of visiting specialists also attend the Centre.

The practice is 100% bulk billing and uses Medical Director and PracSoft. Clinic hours are Monday to Friday 9.00 am – 5.00 pm and Saturday to Sunday 9.00 am – 11.00 am but will not require an RN on weekends

As well as flexible hours there is no requirement for weekend or after hours work and for your hard work you will be paid well above award and the average nursing rate on offer in urban locations. This will be negotiated based upon skills and experience. Also as this is a new role it is your chance to shape how practice nursing in Oatlands Surgery is delivered.

This is also an eligible location for the Health Workforce Scholarship Program administered by HR+. This allows up to $10,000 per year over a 2 year period to complete post graduate training or professional development.
