Are you a nurse looking for a change? Maybe you are sick of shift work? George Town Medical Centre has an opportunity for an experienced registered nurse to join their fantastic team!

The Position

George Town Medical Centre is seeking a registered or enrolled nurse, with general practice experience to fill a maternity leave position for a minimum 8-month period. This role will be rostered on 3 full days per week– Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. To be successful you must be vaccinated against COVID-19.

The successful nurse will be required to perform clinical duties, explain procedures to patients and provide them with support and reassurance.

Amongst your other duties will be triage, immunisations and other injections, wound management, chronic disease management, ECG’s, spirometry, audiograms, drug testing, periodical examinations, data collection and collection of pathology samples. Assist doctors with clinical procedures. Maintain clinical documentation.

The role offers variety, a great team of GP’s, nurses and administrative staff and in return you will be providing outstanding health care to this small regional community.

The Organisation

George Town Medical Centre is a privately owned group practice situated on the north coast of Tasmania, supporting a community of 5,500 people in a beautiful coastal setting with great beaches and recreational facilities and quality roads for easy access to surrounding areas. Launceston (where you will find the nearest airport) is an easy 40 minute drive away.

This well-run practice is situated in a purpose-built clinic and keeping up to date with the best and latest equipment is a priority. There are a number of consulting and treatment rooms to host the team of 10 GP, 6 nurses and administration staff that keep the practice running. There are also beautiful gardens and overlooking deck so that you can enjoy the outdoors during your lunch break!

The practice has longstanding and dedicated staff and pride themselves on their culture. They are also proud to be able to offer a broad range of the services to the patients in the area.

The practice and patients are also able to access a diverse range of on-site services, including counselling, minor surgery, shared care, pathology and some radiography with digital processing. Software used is Medical Director and PracSoft.

This role is part time and an above award salary will be negotiated with the successful registered or enrolled nurse. George Town Medical offers a busy and varied workload. You will also have the opportunity to work with an experienced team of nurses and dedicated team of GP’s so your exposure to these professionals will broaden your own skills and expertise.

As this is a rural position you will be eligible to apply for a Health Workforce Scholarship Program through HR+.
