The Tasmanian Health Service is seeking interest from suitably qualified applicants for the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) - Specialist Palliative Care Service (502891) in North West Tasmania

The Position

Focus of Duties:

Reporting to the Director of Nursing - Chronic, Complex and Community Services, you will contribute to the health outcomes of your patients through excellence in practice, fostering a learning culture, excellent communication skills and working effectively within a multidisciplinary team. This essential position supports the strategic direction, operational processes and delivery of a high standard of clinical care throughout the Primary Health sites and services. This includes acting as our representative at various regional and state-wide meetings to ensure the provision of expert advice and input.

Job Requirements

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
  • The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer.

The following checks are to be conducted:

1. Conviction checks in the following areas:

a) crimes of violence

b) sex related offences

c) serious drug offences

d) crimes involving dishonesty

e) serious traffic offences

2. Identification check

3. Disciplinary action in previous employment check

  • Sound interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of continuous quality improvement
  • Ability to undertake client education
