Northern Midlands Medical Services is seeking a VR GP or senior GP registrar to join the practice on either a full-time or part-time basis. There is an opportunity for practice partnership.

The Position

Northern Midlands Medical Services is seeking a VR GP or senior GP registrar to join the practice on either a full-time or part-time basis. There is an opportunity for practice partnership.

This friendly, established privately-owned practice provides health services to a population of approximately 12,500 people across the greater Northern Midlands community, with surgeries at Longford and Perth

The practice provides support to the nearby residential aged care facility, Toosey Nursing Home, which has 56 aged care beds and two acute medical beds.

The Organisation

Located in a peaceful rural town yet just 20 minutes’ drive from Launceston, the Longford Medical Centre practice was renovated in 2012 and provides plenty of space for medical and reception staff, with seven well equipped consulting rooms, an emergency room, two treatment rooms and a nurses’ room. All types of family medicine are covered and minor surgery is provided. Launceston pathology onsite between 8.30am -11.30am Monday to Friday. The Perth Doctors surgery was also recently refurbished.

The practice is AGPAL accredited and received the RACGP National General Practice of the Year 2007 award.

Opening hours are Monday to Friday with a clinic on Saturday morning at Longford run on a roster basis. Working hours are flexible by agreement. The practice offers a mixture of bulk and private billing.

The practice is an accredited teaching practice and has been teaching GP registrars and medical students for many years, along with international medical graduates and nursing students. There is an excellent support structure in place to assist trainees. The practice is fully computerised and has a full complement of modern equipment.

There is a mental health nurse practitioner and psychologist on site and other allied health professionals, including a diabetes educator, dietitian and hearing service, attend the practice on a regular basis. A neurologist also visits the practice monthly.
