Located within the historic township of Richmond, the practice is ideal for a medical practitioner who is comfortable working in a small practice based in semi-rural region in Tasmania. Newly established practice with modern software and practice facilities. The practice is classified as RRMA 5, rural.

The Position

The position is suited to either a full-time or part-time GP looking to have a fresh start in a practice approximately 30 mins from Hobart with rural property available within a 5-minute drive from the surgery. The practice operates from Monday to Friday with appointments from 9am to 5pm and able to be adjusted to requirements. Currently operating as a solo GP owned practice, it is ideal for practitioners who enjoy independent practice but with modern medical equipment and systems in place. Recently renovated consulting rooms in October 2021 to current building standards and codes for medical practice. Rooms includes access to private garden and within close proximity to local bakery, independent wine and spirit merchant, local tourist shops and cafes.

The Organisation

The surgery is newly established and commenced operating in January 2019. Supported by 2 receptionist working as 1 FTE, full nursing support with both RN immuniser and EN sharing a 1 FTE nurse position and one full-time GP as the owner/operator. The surgery has scope to expand current services beyond primary care services and at present also offers services to neighbouring RACF’s.

A private billing practice but do offer limited bulk billing where financial hardship is present, pensioners over 70 and children under 16.

Offering pathology collection daily and modern IT communication to be able to facilitate referrals to local radiology and allied health services.

Remuneration would be negotiated with the right applicant and commiserate with the hours, commitment and experience of the practitioner.

Richmond is in the heart of the Coal River Valley Wine region and is surrounded by rural properties and historic homesteads. The area is within a few hours drive from the East Coast with wonderful beaches. It is also within a few hours of the central plateau making the location ideal for keen bushwalkers and nature lovers. Also offering easy access to the Hobart airport approximately 20 mins drive from Richmond township.
