Bothwell is a farming town located on the Clyde River just over an hour’s drive from Hobart. The town itself has a population of approximately 400 people but the practice services a much larger rural population. The Central Highlands has a permanent population of 2,216 and 3,700 ratepayers, many of whom own shacks in the communities around the region’s numerous spectacular lakes and mountains. The Central Highlands boasts glorious scenery and dramatic built heritage dating back to the early 19th century. It is the birthplace of Tasmania’s Hydro-Electric power system and home to the best trout fishing in the southern hemisphere. The region is a popular tourist destination with visitors enjoying the stunning highland scenery, local whisky distilleries or a round of golf at Australia’s most historic course.

The Position

The position would suit a vocationally registered GP with experience in rural medicine and is comfortable working in a solo situation.

There is opportunity for you to own and operate the practice, and work sessions as you choose. Not essential under current management.

The Organisation

The practice is a purpose built facility in the centre of the Bothwell Township. A warm, light, bright building with 3 consulting rooms and a large treatment room, equipped with beds and ECG machine. Good access and parking is available.

The facility is a multi-use practice and is utilised by the following allied health professionals:

  • Physiotherapy
  • Child Health Nurse
  • Dietician
  • Diabetic Educator
  • Podiatrist
